Car air con regas and repair in Luton

Car air conditioning slowly loses refrigerant over time, even when nothing is broken, so most systems need a regas every couple of years to keep blowing cold. When it stops cooling properly, a regas is usually the first and cheapest fix.

We check the system first, recover any old gas, test it for leaks under vacuum, then refill it with the exact amount of the correct refrigerant and oil for your car. If the system will not hold gas, we find the leak or the failed part before you spend money on gas that would only escape again.

As auto electrical specialists we also diagnose the electrical side, from pressure switches and cooling fans to compressor clutches and climate control faults, which is where many air con problems really start.

Good to know

Air con questions, answered

How often does car air con need a regas?
Most systems lose a little gas every year. If the air is not as cold as it used to be, a regas every two years or so keeps it working well.
Which gas does my car use?
Most cars built before about 2017 use R134a and most newer cars use R1234yf. It is shown on a label under the bonnet, and we will check it for you.
Why is my air con blowing warm air?
Usually low gas, a leak, or a fault with the compressor, a pressure switch or a cooling fan. We test the system to find which before replacing anything.
How long does a regas take?
Usually about an hour, and it is often done the same day you book.
Will a regas fix a musty smell?
Not usually. A smell normally comes from the cabin filter or the evaporator rather than the gas. We can change the pollen filter and advise on the cause.
